From Stone Chip to Microchip: Sandstone & Gold

Students from the St Mary’s DSG Outreach Programme visited Mapungubwe Hill in the Limpopo Province to do research for their Archaeology project. The project is mentored by lecturers of the University of Pretoria. Information collected will be used for the design of an Archeology Edu Training Curriculum for schools.

Designing The Future of The Past . . .

Looking for valuable items that may explain The Past

Animal bones from ancient dinner tables
Pieces of pottery The famous golden artifacts from Mapungubwe Hill
Beeds and metal objects found at Mapungubwe

We camped under a gaint Baobab tree, living like the ancient people with very little technology. We prepared our meals on an open fire. Our food was bospap and blikkieskos. It was survival!

At Pontdrif Border Post we were received by a friendly policeman. We are grateful for Totius Service for their sponsorship.
