What the Junior Military School Africa [JuMiSA] programme is about:

 

JuMiSA is a social development initiative focusing on the Defence and Security Professions

 

It is an Attribute  Development Programme for emerging achievers and leaders in the Defence, Security and related industries

Objectives of the Programme:

  • To establish students affiliated to the Programme as competitive in Global context
  • The identification and development of High Performance students [HP students] in the field of the Defence and Security Industries.

Profile of an High Performance Student:

A HP student has established him/herself as competitive in Global context in terms of internationally accredited achievements:

  • Academic achievement required to be internationally competitive
  • Proficiency in respect of acquired skills that relate to Science Based Activities [SciBA] such as Scientific Problem Solving and Project Management
  • A proven capacity in respect of profession specific skills that relate to
    • The practical application of merit based executive leadership principles
    • Business acumen [Financial management and entrepreneurship]
    • Informatical Mastery [Computer Science and Software applications]
    • The Science of Law and the principles of regulation

The principal building block is the development of academics skills and personal, physical ability that are required for a successful career in the field of defence and security.

 

Two of the skills are the ability to operate with advanced levels of stealth and strength.

 

For this reason the programme has been called the Elite Stealth and Strength [Junior] Commando’s [Or S&S Junior Commando’s]

 

The S&S Junior Commando’s programme is nick-named The AmaKierie Programme

Who may participate in the Programme:

School and undergraduate level students under the age of 25 years old may participate in the Programme.


Students from Africa and any other country may participate.

The Programme is presented in real time and in virtual format.

Content of the S&S Junior Commando EduTraining programme:

 

Module 1: The Theory of Military and Security Science [Internship and Team Challenge]:

  • The Basics of Military and Security Science
    • International Scientific Problem Solving Projects [Various topics, eg Space Wars]
    • Engineering Challenge: Robotics, Model Rocketry, Model Satellites, Model aircraft [Eg UAV’s]
    • The SciBA Book of Records  
  • Computer Game Challenge [CyberWar]

Module 2: The Practice of Military and Security Science [Internship and Team Challenge]:

  • Weaponology: The  Robin Hood Challenge
    • Practical Shooting Competition [Target Shooting Challenge]:
      • Arms: air gun and .22 rifle/pistol
      • Bow & arrow [“Arrownautics”]
    • Operational Shooting
  • Informatics: Futuristic Strategy Game [Real time and virtual]
  • Personal [High Performance] Skills Development: “Vasbyt” Survival Boot Camp [Eg Fitness]

Module 3: Managing War

  • Micro-Business skills [Safety and Security-, Military and Defence Industry]
    • Real Time Entrepreneurship Programme: related entrepreneurship
    • Virtual Moot Business Programme   
  • Junior Commission of Investigation [Law]
  • Journalism & public reporting

Module 4: Where Science and Culture Meet

  • Music and Word Art [Song Writing, Poetry]  - Eg The AmaKierie Song
  • Visual Art
  • Photography

Module 5: Advanced Programme for high Performance Students

The Elite S&S Junior Commando [“Black Cap”] Programme:

  • Advanced High Performance Programme incl rapid deployment, stealth, air & water borne assault, battle medic, intelligence] 18
  • The selection and training/mentoring of Profession Ambassadors for the Military and Security Industry

Module 6: Standards and Ethics

  • Setting internationally accredited standards for edutraining and ethical work procedures for edutraining programmes – the International Standards and Ethics Commission [ISEC]
  • Setting internationally accredited criteria for (i) content (i) assessment and (iii) certification and (iv) allocation of awards
  • Improving the Expenditure:Achievement Ratio [EAR] of related edutraining [social development] programmes in schools

Module 7: Annual Convention of Leaders

 

Module 8: Certification and presentation of Awards

The 2012 S&S Junior Commando Boot Camp:

The 2012 Boot Camp has been scheduled for April 2 to 7 [2012]. It will form part of the International Festival of the Sciences [IFS] Programme

JuMiSA and the S&S Junior Commando Programme are not full time initiatives.

 

Students affiliated to the Programme undertake practical problem solving research projects, and attend a 5-day  Internship ["Boot Camp"]
