Students who wish to follow a career in Medicine, or a related career in Health Science, may participate in the Junior Medical School Programme.

 

There are many professions in Medical and Health Science. Careers in Medicine include the following [To mention a few]:

 

  • General Practitioner
  • Specialist
  • Physiotherapist
  • Occupational Therapist

Students from South Africa and any other country may participate.

 

Steps to follow if you want to participate in the Junior Med School Programme of the NYDT:

  1. Affiliate to the New Frontiers Science programme: Register as a junior intern with the NYDT.
  2. To achieve this, contact the CEO of the NYDT and full information will be sent to you.

  3. Select a topic for research
  4. Plan and undertake a research project
  5. Prepare a photo essay that reflect the results of your research
  6. Prepare a  project file that contains the following items:
    • Research file [printed materials]
    • A CD or DVD that contains the electronic version of your project
  7. Request the NYDT management to set up assessment opportunity [The project may be assessed by a panel of VIP judges, or may be entered in an international Science Based Competition [SBC]
  8. Deserving projects will be placed on this web site, where judges will be able to access it for judging 

Students who affiliate formally to the NYDT Junior Med School programme, and are selected to represent South Africa in International Science Based Competitions, [SBC] receive official South African Colours for SBC

 

Official NYDT Junior Med School Themes include the following:

  1. Pill or Scalpill”: Research on the question: When is surgery justified?
  2. The ability of the human skin top absorb chemicals, and the long term effect on the body of those chemicals
