  2008 Finals: Melbourne, Australia
 

South Africa participated in the 2008 Future Problem Solving programme for the first time. The Australian competition finals were held in Melbourne, Australia from 17 to 19 October 2008.

The South African team represented Africa in the competition and consisted of the following members:

  • Nadia Heydenrych [Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, Pretoria]
  • Chantelle Heydenrych [Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, Pretoria]
  • Madelein van der Berg [Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, Pretoria]
  • Dikeledi Hlongwane [Gatang Combined School, Mamelodi, Pretoria]
  • Khomotso Moja [Gatang Combined School, Mamelodi, Pretoria]

Team South Africa won the 3rd place in the middle section of the Community Problem Solving Competition.

The team with their project titled: Drugs are Killing our Children. Dikeledi and Khomotso of Gatang Combined School could not attend the event in Australia.

Ms Marianne Solomon, Executive Director of IFPS, and  Ms May Tan, Director of FPS Singapore, interviewed the team. A telephonic interview was done with Dikeledi and Khomotso to assess their contribution to the project.

Team South Africa 2008: Madeleine, Dikeledi, Khomotso, Chantelle and Nadia. The team will be in Michigan in May 2009 to participate in the International IFPS finals
