“Scientific Problem Solving” is a key element of the NYDT programme for the development of emerge g achievers and leaders. Our interns undertake Science based problem solving projects as part of their EduDevelopment schedule.

Problem Solving is a key development area, and is a prominent component in training areas Worldwide.
 
Various international Programmes focus on Problem Solving. All are however not focusing on the “Scientific” solving of problems.
 
When selecting a suitable programme for students, it is recommended that the following factors are taken into consideration:

  • Academic value of the outcome in terms of Assessment and Certification [International accreditation and endorsement]

  • Level of profession-specific significance: does the competition - for instance the selction of research topics - support career [path development]

  • The participation : investment ratio - The number of students who are allowed to participate should justify the amount invested in the competition. This include the “bridging” of participation by students who live and learn in disadvantaged school communities

  • The cost : achievement ratio – The achievements of the participants should justify the cost of the competition

  • The level of exposure of the students to relevant technologies should support  career path development

  • Competitions not delivering discovery [contribution to the universal data base of the Sciences] and innovation [technical invention] should be avoided

** Regional competitions are held in real time in various countries such as Australia. Qualifying schools are invited to attend the international finals in the USA. Participants have to carry their own costs:

-  FPSPI Registration Fees

-  FPSPI Competition materials
